Within South East Queensland, there is a high concentration of brumbies within the Tuan and Toolara State Forests located in the Gympie/Maryborough/Tin Can Bay/Rainbow Beach area (approximately 2 ½ hours drive north of Brisbane). It is estimated there are up to 1300 brumbies in these forests.
